Nerea Marta — Digital product maker

At New Relic, I work as a UX Engineer, a title that reflects my mix of design and engineering, but with a strong focus on product design. Most of my time has been spent on One Core, our design system, where I've helped it grow through patterns, foundational interactions, and components. Now I'm leading key initiatives that will define the future of both the product and the system. While I can't share those (yet), I'll show you past initiatives I've worked on, such as navigation, keyboard shortcuts, resizable layouts, and maps.

Kiff was the first iOS app we developed at Topxel. It helped us, and those who used the app, enjoy food at its best, reducing waste along the way. With its unique UI and thoughtful details, Kiff became the perfect companion for anyone trying to waste less, save money, and take better care of the planet.

Faunapyr is a European Interreg POCTEFA project led by the Aranzadi Science Society, bringing together 16 organizations (from local governments to conservation groups) to protect cross-border ecosystems like the Pyrenees. For this project, I propotyped and help design a data viewer that, for the first time, lets people explore sightings of more than 4,000 species from the region.

Finect is an investment platform that helps people make better financial decisions through interactive tools and services. Our collaboration started with a two-month project to design and build the foundation for their financial simulator engine. A few years later, it grew into an 18 month partnership where we defined best practices, updated their tech stack, and designed and built multiple services for their platform.

EuroBirdPortal (EBP) is a European initiative that aggregates data from bird recording portals across the continent to reveal large-scale patterns in bird distributions and migration over time. For this project, I designed the overall branding and the viewer experience, making it possible for people to explore seasonal changes, migratory routes, and phenology.

At Healthia, we contributed to the company's transformation from an à la carte medical collective into a service centered on sports health. That pivot set the stage for Sanitas (Bupa) to acquire Healthia in 2017 as part of its sports medicine strategy.

We worked with Telefónica's R&D team to bring together their global connectivity, custom Arduino-like hardware, and a cloud solution into one platform. The result was a new IoT ecosystem that gave hardware makers and developers the tools to create innovative connected products.
